We are a Unique Org…

OPHA Secretariat is composed of the Executive Director and OPHA Core Staff. It performs the administrative and communications functions for the Board of Directors, Workgroups, and all duties relating to the OPHA membership at large. In addition, it provides administrative, technical, and communication services to various funded programs and projects.

Workgroups are units of OPHA members who volunteer to engage in advocacy, promotion or other activities related to a specific Public Health issue on behalf or the OPHA.

Programs and Projects are activities undertaken by OPHA, often under contract from a third party such as the Ministry of Health Promotion, the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care or another funding agency to provide a specific service—training, tool development, planning, evaluation, etc-- that supports Public Health service delivery at the local level. These may also include OPHA Board activities related to Public Health at the system level or activities designed to inform healthy pubic policy.

Collaborations and Partnerships are OPHA working agreements with other like-minded organizations designed to achieve a specifically established common goal.

Constituent Societies are associations, societies or voluntary organizations (based in Ontario or the Ontario branch of a national organization) of Community Health or Public Health professionals, with objectives that are compatible with OPHA, that are granted membership in the OPHA, at the discretion of the OPHA Board of Directors. Constituent Societies must be financially self-sustaining and must have been in active existence for at least twelve months.
