Heart Health Resource Centre (HHRC)
The Heart Health Resource Centre is planning for a busy summer and fall.
The Ministry of Health Promotion has recently confirmed the funding level (subject to approval by the Legislature) for the OHHP-Taking Action for Healthy Living until December 2008. The continued funding will maintain the momentum built by the 37 community partnerships while the Ministry and key stakeholders work together on program development and planning.
Community Supports - The HHRC has planned a comprehensive mix of supports designed to build the capacity of community partnerships as they plan for 2008 and beyond.
A variety of resource highlights will be published, profiling the excellent materials produced by HHRC and other OHPRS members on topics including planning, the social determinants of health, active transportation, and many others.
HHRC consultants will be delivering on-site consultations for community partnerships and coaching sessions for individual coordinators to assist them in strategic and program planning activities. Throughout the fall and winter, HHRC will also be giving on-site and e-workshops designed to support the planning cycle.
Partnership Initiatives - The HHRC is working on a number of partnership initiatives as well. Working with the Physical Activity Resource Centre (PARC) and the Ontario Healthy Communities Coalition (OHCC), the HHRC will engage in activities to involve and support the recreation sector. We are also working with these two OHPRS members in an advisory capacity, participating on the Advisory Committees for PARC’s annual conference, and the OHCC’s Healthy Communities and the Build Environment project.
HHRC's website is currently being update to enhance its usability and aesthetics. Be sure to visit the site and tell us what you think!
