ANDSOOHA

ANDSOOHA hosted its Annual General Meeting and workshop on April 7th and 8th at the Metropolitan Hotel in Toronto. The sessions were well attended both days.

The public health nurse leadership group heard updates from Dr. Arlene King, Monica Turner, Nancy Perroff-Johnson, the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, Anne Simard and Liz Van-Horne, Ontario Agency for Health Protection and Promotion, Peggy Nelligan, the Ministry of Health Promotion, and Vanessa Burkoski, Provincial Chief Nursing Officer.

Energizing Workshop!

The workshop, entitled “Solving the other Energy Crisis: Leading with Confidence and Resiliency” featured keynote speaker, Susan Stewart of Live Well, Laugh Lots. The focus of the workshop was the creation of everyday habits to build resiliency to chronic stress and maintain a healthy body and mind. Techniques included: ditching chronic stress; viewing change as a friend rather than an enemy; fostering a light--hearted, positive, and FUN workplace; and creating genuine, high-performance teamwork. The workshop was energizing and made for a very positive day!

New Executive

The meeting marked the end of Susan Kniahnicki’s (Algoma Health Unit) term as president of ANDSOOHA. Susan provided strong leadership over her two- year term. The Orientation Toolkit for Public Health Nurses (available on ANDSOOHA's website) was led by Susan and Algoma Health Unit in partnership with ANDSOOHA. The Nursing Leadership Quarterly has published an article on the toolkit and the process used for development. The article is also posted on ANDSOOHA's website.

Jo Ann Tober from Brant County Health Unit began her term as president at the meeting. Jo-Ann has a long history on the executive of ANDSOOHA and in public health nursing leadership. ANDSOOHA looks forward to an action packed term with Jo Ann at the helm.
