June 2011 - Current and Emerging Public Health Initiatives in Ontario
June is Seniors’ Month and there is a new Ontario initiative relating to seniors that affect public health practice.
Last month, OPHA was invited by the Ontario Seniors’ Secretariat to participate in a workshop aimed at developing a toolkit for Age Friendly Communities. The Secretariat is responding to a need identified by communities who are searching for tools and assessments in aiding them to develop Age Friendly Communities. This toolkit, which will be developed throughout the summer and fall, will collect evidence-based tools and resources from a variety of sources, and will provide a framework for communities to make decisions on what tools and processes will be most appropriate for them. For more information, please contact Andrea Bodkin abodkin@opha.on.ca who is representing OPHA on this committee.
