The Future of the Good Food Box (FGFB) Project is Now Wrapping Up

The Future of the Good Food Box (FGFB) Project is now wrapping up. This project was a collaborative effort of the OPHA Food Security Work Group, FoodNet Ontario and the Ontario Healthy Communities Coalition. Its purpose was to strengthen the network of Good Food Box (GFB) programs across the province by developing a sustainable GFB business model and activating a supportive GFB network.

The Project Steering Committee will make sure that the information generated through the project is communicated to existing and potential GFB programs and is also considering other possible opportunities identified by project participants.

The Steering Committee and CVC would like to thank all GFB programs and other partners who contributed thought, time and resources to this project.

The project included three components:

  1. The completion of an environmental scan of GFB programs in Ontario. The Environmental Scan Report March 2011. The Future of the Good Food Box Project has been completed.
  2. The development of a business model. The Making the Case for Good Food Box Programs: A Planning Guide has been completed.
  3. Activation of a Provincial GFB Network Meeting. Meeting notes, regional contact lists and Terms of Reference have been forwarded to all GFB program contacts. A group of GFB representatives interested in supporting the further development of the Provincial GFB Network will be contacted by FGFB Steering Committee members who committed to carrying the provincial network development process forward.

The FGFB Project gratefully acknowledges the funding support of the Healthy Communities Fund, Provincial Stream of the Ontario Ministry of Health Promotion and Sport and the Heart and Stroke Foundation Spark Community Advocacy Grant Program.
