New Public Health Core Competencies Project Staffed and Ready to Go
OPHA and its partners — the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit; the City of Hamilton, Public Health Services; Toronto Public Health; and Thunder Bay District Health Unit — are pleased to announce the commencement of an exciting new project to further its work on Public Health Core Competencies.
The Performance Management Framework project, funded by HealthForceOntario aims to develop a competency-based performance management framework, and supporting processes and tools for health professionals in Ontario. The components of the project include:
An environmental scan and compilation of existing competency-based performance management processes and tools being utilized across Ontario;
Drafting of a performance management framework based upon a scan;
Engagement of the public health professional associations (through an expanded OPHA Core Competency Task Group) for their input on the competency-based framework considering professional competencies;
Identification of proficiency levels;
Development of support tools, dictionary and manual;
Pilot testing of tools and manual in four health units;
Evaluation of the process and products;
Dissemination.
Tina Wadham has been hired as the Project Coordinator and will be assisted by Jennifer Lodge. If you would like more information about the project, please contact Tina at the OPHA offices.
