The Role of Public Health in Chronic Disease Prevention in Ontario
OCDPMPH, alPHa and OPHA are very pleased to announce that we have updated the The Role of Public Health in Chronic Disease Prevention in Ontario document. It is available on the front page of the alPHa website.
This roles document will be shared with MOHLTC once we are clear on who our contact(s) will be there. It will also be shared with key chronic disease prevention stakeholder groups in Ontario (such as OCPDA, PRO, OSNPPH, HPO, OSPAPPH, etc.) through the contact/liaison persons on our executive committee.
At the local level this is a great document to share with local community partners, including municipal councils, school boards and school, MPs and MPPs. This document is a valuable resource that helps stakeholders understand the important work that public health does on a day to day basis to make Ontario the healthiest province possible.
The Chief Public Health Officer’s Report on the State of Public Health in Canada, 2011
The Chief Public Health Officer’s fourth annual report on the state of public health in Canada has been released. It examines the state of health and well-being of Canadian youth (aged 12 to 19 years) and young adults (aged 20 to 29 years). The report considers many health issues affecting this population such as physical and mental health, injury, sexual and reproductive health and substance use and abuse. By discussing these issues and how they are addressed, the report identifies priority areas for action to maintain healthy transitions of young Canadians into adulthood.
