Ontario Chronic Disease Prevention Management in Public Health
The Ontario Chronic Disease Prevention Management in Public Health organization (OCDPMPH) was formed in 2005 to foster communication, collaboration and coordination within public health and across sections in the promotion of health and prevention of chronic disease.
OPHA and alPHa have recently supported OCDPMPH in the creation of a communication tool that articulates the role of public health in chronic disease prevention through the use of a story about type 2 diabetes: Understanding the Role of Public Health in Chronic Disease Prevention in Ontario. The story illustrates how public health applies health promotion theory in its implementation of a comprehensive strategy to prevent type 2 diabetes and other chronic diseases. The tool will be used to increase the understanding of primary prevention amongst health care providers and the community. Check out the details by downloading the pdf [PDF, 1.1MB].
