October 2011 - Constituent Society and Partnership Corner

2011 has been an exciting year for the Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors (CIPHI) Ontario Branch Executive. Our main areas of focus were the completion of our 2011-2014 strategic plan and continued commitment to promote professional development of public health inspectors in Ontario through partnering with other public health agencies and industry to offer a wide range of educational opportunities.

At the National level, work continues on the CIPHI Member Service Centre with the launch of the events module, new communities, and enhancements to the Professional Development Hours tracking module and audit tool. Also, at the National level the Environmental Health Review (EHR) Committee has selected Dr. Andrew Papadopoulos as the new Editor-in-Chief as part of the redefining of the EHR. The first edition of the revised EHR is expected to be in December 2011.

At the provincial level, the CIPHI Ontario Branch Executive has partnered with TrainCan Inc., to host the 72nd annual Ontario Branch Educational Conference and Food Safety Forum, October 2-5th, 2011 in Niagara-on-the-Lake.In the spring of 2011, the 17th Annual CIPHI Communicable Disease Conference, “Keeping On Track” washosted by the CD Committee and was attended by over 150 people.
